Hurricane Sandy - The day after

    Hurricane Sandy, the day after.

    Worms covered the sidewalks around Brooklyn Bridge Park.  

    With all subway and bus service suspended, pedestrians and cyclists crossed the Brooklyn Bridge Tuesday afternoon.  

    Parks throughout Manhattan are closed to the public.

    Tourists look out to the Statue of Liberty near South Ferry Seaport.

    Thousands of gallons of water are pumped out of flooded areas in the Financial District.

    A revolving door in the Financial District is shattered from Hurricane Sandy.

 

    The South Ferry station was lined with sandbags and plywood, yet still had significant flooding.

    Sandbags lined buildings along downtown Manhattan.

    MTA workers look out the doors of the Bowling Green station.  According to AP, Bowling Green "had water up to its ceiling."

    The FDR underpass is completely flooded - the entrance has a clearance of 12 feet.  The water smells of gasoline.
